Footage from Florence by intoscana.it

A video report of the whaiwhai challenge that took place in Florence on April 24th is now online. The coverage is exceptionally precise and detailed thanks to the portal Intoscana’s reporters Davide and Adriana. Cover your ears towards the end of the last video, though: the answer to one of the clues slipped out! But we’ll find another enigma – Florence conceals so many of them.

2054 – The Night in Florence: Event Standings

The results are in for the game last Friday night that started, from the Edison bookstore in Florence, at 9:30, and ended (at least for Elisa’s team) the next day! These late finishers, who divorced themselves from any thought of competition, deserve special recognition for that “slowly romantic” spirit with which they approached whaiwhai. Congratulations, Donato and Elisa! All of us met back behind the Duomo, which was the last location of the challenge. Lapo and Niccolò’s team let the others in the dust, completing their itinerary at lightning speed. So congratulations to them as well, for their quickness and their knowledge of the city. Every group finished their itinerary and walked a little over four kilometers. The team that made the most mistakes made 8 of them, but nobody was perfect  :-).

You can check out pics of the evening event and teams can read the report of their game. All you need to do is insert the telephone number you played with (including the prefix 39) and the game code (EDISON). If you snapped a few photos yourself during the game, upload them on flickr and tag them whaiwhaiandme: in this way, they can be viewed in our photo section as well. Soon we’ll even have video footage of the event taken by intoscana.it.

Special thanks to Luciano and Ricciardo Artusi for their contribution and for the distinctive prize they awarded to the winning team.

2054 Florence: Notes for the event tomorrow

It’s almost time for the Florence challenge. As you know, the appointment is for tomorrow at 9:30pm at the Edison bookstore. Each team needs to bring a gamebook and a mobile phone. A map of the city and a flashlight could be helpful, too.

Registration by telephone is now officially open for this game. Here’s how you can register:

Send a text message with your name followed by the word EDISON to (+39) 3318494552. (example: Paola EDISON).
N.B. You must send this message from the phone you’re going to use during the game!

After you send the text, the system will then ask you to enter your activation number. Answer by entering the ten-digit code you’ll find at the bottom of the last page of your gamebook.

You’re all set! You’ll receive confirmation and you’ll be ready for the game. Then all that’s left to do is wait for tomorrow, come to the Edison bookstore and wait for the start message we’ll send to begin the game.

Good luck and see you tomorrow!

Now it’s Florence’s turn

cartolina_firenze_10_15

The double-night in the Ruyi cities has just come to an end. We’re still digesting the effects of adrenaline and the satisfaction from the simultaneous event. You’ll soon find a short video about it here. Meanwhile, photos taken in Venice are already on Flickr.

But there’s no time to lose: Spring is close at hand and the whaiwhai event calendar is filling up. It’s Florence’s turn now, time for the for the mysteries of 2054. An appointment in the Tuscan city has already been scheduled (see the flyer above).

On Friday, April 24th at 9:30pm, the Florentine challenge will begin from the Edison Bookstore. For those familiar with our events, it’s the usual routine: get to the bookstore on time with your 2054 Florence gamebook, which you can purchase either that evening at the Edison Bookstore or right away from our shop. Don’t forget to bring your mobile phone and your friends. Split up into teams (of three or four, ideally). One gamebook and one mobile per group is sufficient. Then, we’ll announce the code needed to register to the game and you’ll start on your search for extraordinary signs and clues hidden in the history and in the stonework of Florence. Each team will have a different itinerary, but we’ll all meet back at the same finishing point, where a prize will be awarded to the winners. The team that finishes their treasure hunt first will win a gift certificate worth 100 euros to spend at the Edison bookstore, our partner for this event.

Our friends at intoscana.it will be filming the event, so you’ll be able to see us again on the Tuscany tourist board’s information portal. And soon, you’ll even find news about the event on our Facebook page.

Mark your calendars and don’t miss out!
